Resumo: |
This dissertation focuses on an experience with Language Workshops using speech therapy techniques as part of an integral approach to health care assistance, aiming at establishing a link between community and health services. These Language Workshops act as a clinical instrument which is able to not only strengthen the involvement of participants with reading and writing by using a variety of oral and written practices, but also to re-elaborate their oral and written discourse. The research is designed as a case study using the situations experienced in the workshops which were part of the Family Health Program in the city of São Paulo between 2004 and 2005. We came to the conclusion that the Language Workshop, if used as a clinical practice in public health, can increase one´s contact with various discourse forms and lead to the enrichment of the targeted population´s language competence. This could prove to help professionals find and deal with health issues related to the oral and written production and the teaching and learning processes. In addition, as it stimulates best discourse practices, it also increases the literacy level of the participants involved in the project |
