The present study has as its guiding object the implementation process of the Unified Social Assistance System in Montes Claros/MG. Its objective is to analyze the political-economic impacts of fiscal austerity and counter-reforms in view of the characteristics of the Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS) in Montes Claros from 2005 to 2022. The study used a qualitative approach, for workers with the reality of managers and workers of SUAS, from the territory lived. Bibliographical and documentary research was carried out to achieve the materialization of the study proposal, since the proportion of the historical trajectory of the Social Assistance Policy would only achieve results from this perspective. In the field research, a semi-structured questionnaire was used to understand, through oral history, how social assistance was carried out before the 1993 LOAS and the process that took place from then on, with the PNAS (2004) and NOB/SUAS (2005). The study resorted to the dialectical method to apprehend the reality of the SUAS construction process in the Northern Minas Gerais scenario |
