Resumo: Finding new ways of dialoging and creating new meanings for personal stories assumes vital importance in psychological clinics with a systemic approach. However, the literature review highlights to the need for further investigations that can promote more efficient and clear communication between parents and adolescent children, which makes this research relevant. Our general objective is to understand how communication between parents and children takes place in the adolescent phase of the family's life cycle and for specific objectives, from a relational perspective, to evaluate how adolescents perceive communication processes with their parents in the family and how parents perceive communication processes with teenagers in the family. To achieve the proposed objectives, a qualitative research was designed, which will be conducted through semi-structured interviews, with four couples and their teenage children. The analysis will begin with the use of the IRAMUTEQ software, which offers data organization and will allow the development of thematic analysis, which involves developing and interpreting patterns of meaning (themes) from qualitative data. The results showed that parents and children can develop new knowledge about themselves, in an approach that requires information and listening
