Resumo: The current study was intended to understand if and in which way the dialogue made after the observation carried out by the trainer of a trainee practice constitute a strategy of trainers in-service continued training. The research was made in the Tutoria Program scope, that is developed by Itaú Social Foundation in partnership with Secretaria de Educação do Município de São Caetano do Sul - SP, which is the context of the research, and in partnership with Alley, the institution responsible for technical management of the Program. The research had as subjects two trainers, one of whom, who works as a trainer at Secretaria de São Caetano do Sul- SP, is trained by the other, who works as a trainer at Alley. In Tutoria Program, the assigned name for the action of observing the trainee in action and dialogue with him about what was observed is feedback. Since the term feedback has a lot of possible understandings, this research refers to this action as formative dialogue, based on Freire's ideas (1986, 1996, 1998). The research is based on sociohistorical perspective and uses the theoretical assumptions of Vygotsky (2004) and his followers to achieve the genesis of the phenomenon. The procedures used to obtain the data of the research were: 1. Observation and registration, by means of audio recording feature, of the dialogue occurred between the trainer and the trainee after the trainer had watched her in practice; 2. Interview, which was audio recorded, with the trainer about the dialogue he had with the trainee; and 3. Interview, which was audio recorded, with the trainee about the dialogue she had with the trainer. The analyses and interpretation of data were made through the procedure assigned “Nuclei of Meanings”, as proposed by Aguiar (2013) and Aguiar, Machado e Soares (2015). The analyses reveal that the subjects who were investigated mean the dialogue made after the practice observation as a strategy of singular potential to improve trainee’s practice. They also reveal that, amongst other elements, the quality of the relationship between the trainer and the trainee has the main role in the constitution of the dialogue as a strategy of trainers in-service continued training. Based on the theoretical assumptions of sociohistorical psychology, the research conceptualizes, thematizes and legitimizes the dialogue about observed practices as a potent strategy of trainers in-service continued training, and introduces questions about different aspects that constitute this strategy of training
