Resumo:	This present thesis has as an object the Portuguese Penalties System with its new dynamic for criminal policies and their prison impacts. It approaches firstly the scenery of the Portuguese Criminal Politics with the general elements and the main legislative alterations in the penal, penal procedural and political-criminal scopes starting from 1995. It presents on a second moment the penalty system and security measures. At the end it makes an analysis of the prison impacts caused by the adjustments on the legislation, with the intention of observing the Portuguese prison process.
