Resumo: | Beyond the biological and physical modifications, the aging generates social, behavioral, political and philosophical changes, which raise new questions and create new paradigms. The retirement is one of the most important periods, and the process of decisionmaking in face of the retirement besides the quality of life maintenance after that are important aspects to a better understanding of aging and to the institution of new policies for the well-being and health of this population. Objectives: to verify the influence and the possible relations between retirement and perception about quality of life in people already retired, evaluating (i) capacity of decision-making in a group of retired people, (ii) perception of coercion associated to retirement in this group of people, (iii) quality of life of retired people participants or not of groups of retirement preparation. Methods: Observational, transverse, descriptive and analytical study, accomplished with 13 people, participants of the group of retired and pensioners from Fundação CEEE (Companhia Estadual de Energia Elétrica), in Porto Alegre (RS, Brasil). The perception of coercion Scale in retirement was used as a tool, as well as the development psychological-moral Scale, the WHOQOL-OLD and the WHOQOL-Bref. Results: from the participants’ total, 11 (84,61%) were female and the mean of age was 64,23 years old. The average time of retirement was 12,65 years. All the subjects presented capacity of decision-making from their best interests, according to the development psychological-moral Scale. The distribution of perception of coercion was wide and presented a value predominantly zero (minimum). Regarding to the evaluating of quality of life, all the participants presented scores above average. Conclusion: All the study subjects had condition of decision-making from their best interests (with development psychologicalmoral between the levels four and seven, which indicate an appropriate capacity of decisionmaking). The perception of coercion associated to retirement varied from zero to the highest level, manifesting the great diversity of situations, which the participants were exposed to. The retired ones quality of life, participants or not of the retirement preparation groups, did not demonstrate differences. The values obtained in the utilized features revealed the participants good quality of life. The data obtained in this present study evinced the necessity of expand the investigation of this variables (decision-making, perception of coercion and quality of life) in the aging process, in order to search a better understanding of it. |
