Resumo: | This study’s major purpose is to analyze the hero’s representation in public monuments in the cities of Porto Alegre, Curitiba and Florianópolis (Brazil) over the period 1900-1940. The central thesis of the work is supported in the premise of that the monuments do not translate a reality historical, but yes an imaginary one. It is not enough to interpret symbols and allegories to understand the past of one definitive society, therefore through an interconnection of sources we will only be able to understand the limits between fiction and reality. |
