Resumo: | The research has as objective the analysis of the image of urban violence in Brazilian documentary movies, using as study object, a group of five documentaries, produced between 2002 and 2004: Ônibus 174 (174 Bus ) (José Padilha, 2002), Fala tu (You speak) (Guilherme Coelho, 2003), O cárcere e a rua (The jail and the street) (Liliana Sulzbach, 2004), O prisioneiro da grade de ferro (The iron bar prisoner) (Paulo Sacramento, 2004) and Justiça (Justice) (August Maria Augusta Ramos, 2004). The work will focus on films produced in Brazil that have reached the commercial market. It is about a specific and representative snap of an aspect of the national audiovisual production that refers to the relationship of the documentary with the urban violence. In that sense, the issues of the representation and the impression of reality provided by the cinematographic images will be examined, serving as support for the study of the works. In the analysis of the five documentaries, the exam of the particularities of the violence is aimed at, trying to understand the relationship of the cultural and cinematographic elements that lead to the constitution of an imaginary one. Taking that into account, two concepts will be sketched that will contribute to this study, which are the urban space and alterity. The used method will be the thematic analysis proposed by Francesco Casetti. |
