Resumo: This work aims at understanding the way a methodological proposal for teaching Human Anatomy and Physiology may promote a (re)construction of knowledge and also give students of a Technical Nursing Course a higher level of autonomy while learning, which is achieved through the use of the principles of Education Through Research, Meaningful Learning, and Critical Meaningful Learning. This research was carried out at a school where the researcher established direct contact with the subjects. The methodological approach of this work is qualitative, descriptive, investigative and interpretative, with no generalizations at all. The data analyzed was taken from field diaries and audio recordings of all classes. The interpretation of the data was made with the Discourse Textual Analysis methodology, through which it was possible to recognize the fundamentals of a classroom with research, the main core of meaningful learning, and the principles of critical meaningful learning. The study had as result an organization of two categories and their subcategories. In the Building up Knowledge category it was possible to verify and validate the influence of the role of both teacher and student while constructing knowledge, not to mention the evidences of the construction of such knowledge, everything generated in order to benefit humankind and society itself. The Autonomy category ended up corroborating and legitimating the influence of the role of teachers in developing the autonomy of their students, not to mention the role of the students in developing autonomy themselves. This research also presents some evidences of the autonomous work developed by the students and the constitution of the assessment of such activities by the own subjects. We also analyze the importance of the teacher in stimulating research in the classroom, in considering the students‟ previous knowledge and in evidencing to the learner the purpose of the acquisition of a new knowledge. This investigation allowed us to conclude that the strategies developed with the students helped them to acquire an intellectual autonomy, a construction of knowledge dedicated to the formation of connections with further areas of knowledge, and the (re)discovery of interpersonal relations, which will contribute in their lives as health workers, as well as promote a personal growth.
