A before and after study was realized with de proposition to evaluate the bite force in patients with bruxism before and after the use of a soft splint (mandibular advanced device). Eighteen patients with bruxism and without Temporomandibular disorders were selected to the study . The maximal bite force was measurement using a cross-arch force transducer (Sensotec 13/2445-02, Columbus, OH, Estados Unidos) placed in the region of the first molar and the SAQ (The University of Toronto Sleep Assesssment Questionnaire) was responded by them. This patients used an home-screening tool to detect the amout of nocturnal bruxism named Bite- Strip® during one night of sleep and to determinated the bruxism diagnosis . After the bruxism confirmation the patients use the mandibular advancement device for thirty days, used a new Bite Strip®, responded the SAQ again and a the maximal bite force was measurement again. The Results showed that had a significant decrease in the parameters of bruxism diagnosis in the studied patients, after the use of the slint, the bite force decreased too after the use of the mandibular advancement device.
