Resumo: This study aimed to investigate the students’ conceptions of Normal Middle Course concerning the teaching of Mathematics and Statistics and compares the perceptions of students of 3rd and 4th years on from two statistical approaches to education: classroom and traditional classroom with use of computer resources. The design of this study was a descriptive observational. Participated in a first step all students of a normal course of a Middle School and a second step the students of 3rd and 4th years of this same course. Two questionnaires were applied, which was first investigated in the perception of students on Statistics, as well as satisfaction with regard to working hours of the discipline of mathematics during Normal Medium. Students also responded to classify the relationship of them with the discipline of mathematics and also had suggestions for changes in their way of teaching. The second questionnaire had the objective to collect data for the organization of a database. The proposed work was developed in the first quarter of 2009 from the database obtained. With the students of 3rd year using the method called traditional education in the classroom with lecture classes and dialogue and in the 4th year in the laboratory computer using the spreadsheet.The main activities were: construction of tables, graphs, cross-checking and statistical calculations. At the end of activities was implemented involving a new questionnaire for the classes 3 and 4 years to collect information to make a comparative analysis of two forms of approach to teaching. For traditional classroom students said that classes were repetitive and not very interesting, while the classes with computer resources made the work attractive, creative, innovative teacher and being a mediator of knowledge.
