This thesis aims to recover the role of visual effects as intrinsic to the development of film language. Although the direction and editing have been consolidated as the main carriers of filmic enunciation, it was with the visual effects that the film found one of its first specificities. We will study the relationship between visual effects and editing from the three versions of the movie King Kong (1933, 1976 and 2005) discussing the changes on both sides and creating a critique of the omnipotence of technical aspects observing relations of ruptures and continuities present since the first film.
