Based on the concepts of array (objects or daily practices) and of code (cultural options arranged in opposing pairs) this master’s degree dissertation studies the year of 1975 in Brazil. This study reproduces Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht’s experiment carried out in his book In 1926: living at the edge of time. The novels Catatau, by Paulo Leminski, Lavoura arcaica, by Raduan Nassar, and Zero, by Ignácio de Loyola Brandão are analyzed through the predefined arrays and codes. The objective is the reading of the corpus’s novels in the light of their time, in a simultaneous space, relating history and literature.
