The purpose of this research is to analyze main headlines and texts published by the newspapers A Federação and Correio do Povo regarding the Farroupilha Revolution Centennial Exposition, event taken place in Farroupilha Park, Porto Alegre, September 1935. Surrounded by different meanings, the happening was seen as a great opportunity to show off the economic, social and political development of the state of Rio Grande do Sul at the time. Reaffirming the press’s relevance as source of history through the method of Content Analysis, this study discusses many of the newspapers’ takes on the matter and also attempts to identify, in the journalistic pages, motivations behind historical figures participating in and organizing the Exposition.
