Blockchain technology holds sevral applications and was created to modify the processes and ways of society interactions these days. Technology makes it possible to improve electronic transactions and business processes among companies, as well as minimize operating costs and bureaucracy, since intermediaries are discarded. Blockchain architecture allows any asset (tangible or not) to be transacted, automating trust and establishing better levels of traceability, which makes network more efficient. Primarily, a bibliometric pairing research was carried out, which sought to understand how blockchain technology is influencing the various sectors of the economy as well as to understand the areas of greatest applicability, the challenges and trends of possible use in the scientific and professional field considering the advantages and difficulties that a technology considered new can cause in society. This research provided a theoretical base that enabled the continuity of the other research, indicating the energy sector as decisive to the applicability of the permissionless innovation theory, consequently leading to the proposed theme that covers the difficulties faced by companies in the adoption of blockchain in the Brazilian energy sector. The challenges of implementing and applying a new technology in the energy market bring obstacles and cause impacts on numerous economy sectors. Regarding this context, the objective of this research is to analyze the barriers of blockchain technology in the Brazilian energy sector, in face of difficulties of current legal regulation in this sector. This research aims to understand the challenges that companies face whenadopting and using blockchain technology considering the research question: how power companies in Brazil respond to the challenges of adopting and using blockchain technology? In study 1, the methodology we used involves a bibliometric research, and in the study 2, a blockchain in energy with four companies in the energy sector operating in Brazil, from small to large, with cases of technology applicability. The main result achieved in this research is the explanation of the difficulties and challenges that companies face when implementing blockchain technology in the energy sector in Brazil, through the theory of non-permissioned innovation, considering the impacts of criticisms and regulations that prevent the advance and use of technologiessuch as blockchain. |
