Resumo: This work aimed to investigate the history of the union movement teacher in Minas Gerais, between the years 1979 and 1983, since the first signs of dissatisfaction against the pay and working conditions, through the mass actions and mobilizations, to building unions and political organizations claimed that the direction of the class and the working class. Sought to answer whether this movement arose in consequence of the development of class consciousness among workers in education - teachers especially - from the analysis of the historical process of its development, and through primary sources such as newspapers, flyers, etc., testimonials and qualitative interviews collected between characters who experienced the historic moment. Based on theoretical historical materialism and dialectical presence of authors such as Edward D. Thompson and Georg Lukács, among others, this research sought to understand the characteristics of the social category of teachers, their socio-economic status, their struggles demands in Minas Gerais, their unions and their participation in political processes that led to the fall of the dictatorship civil-Brazil's military, constituting itself as a major collective political subjects of Brazilian society since then.
