Resumo: An observational study of transverse cut was performed in the Rogacionista Institute, at S??o Paulo city (SP), were 156 students regularly registered were evaluated, originating 3 cientific articles. The instruments specificity, sensibility and accuracy verification was performed through an application of a questionnaire wich is recomendid by American Academy Orofacial Pain and questionnaire and anamnesis index of Fonseca and cross-checked specific clinical exam to diagnostic RDC/TMD Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders. The nutricional state diagnostic was calculated by the weight division, in kilos, by, in metters (kg/m??), characterizing the and for the contacts points register it was used carbon Accufilm??II in both sides simmuntarialy. The data was submitted to the statistic analysis in the SPSS 12.0 Program. The varios instruments that were used to the TMD evaluation available in the literature and examined by this research presented low sensibility and high specificity when they were applied in children and teens, due to hard compreehension by the age involved in the study and terminology used in the auto-explained questions. It was observed high prevalence TMD and an association of TMD presence in children and teens low body weight. Related to occlusal contacts it is possible to verify that there is a significant difference between the number of occlusal contacts in centric occlusion in children with and without TMD, regardless of grade, the number of occlusal contacts in both side was smaller than the number in children without TMD.
