Resumo: |
The industrial sector contributes to the development of society, but it is often responsible for environmental problems and degradation. As a result, a new model of development is presented to these organizations, that emphasis the economic, social and environmental dimensions. In this way, companies are seeking to incorporate environmentally correct practices, especially in proper use of raw materials and natural resources, as well as allocating or treating the waste, effluents and emissions. Thus, recent researches are seeking to understand how human resource management can contribute to environmental management, which is presented in embryonic form in Brazil. The researched sector is the Mechanic Metal, which is a productive sector considered medium to high environmental impact and user of natural resources, where environmental awareness is considered low and data are nonexistent on the environmental performance of this sector. Thus, the main question of this research is: How the practices of human resources management can influence on the environmental performance in the Mechanic Metal sector? The main objective is to evaluate how human resources management influences on environmental performance in the metal mechanic sector. A conceptual model was proposed and tested empirically with a sample of 108 member companies of the Brazilian Association of Machinery and Equipment Industry (Abimaq), and after the adjustments demonstrated level of significance, validity, reliability, higher than recommended in the literature. The results indicated that companies surveyed in the Mechanic Metal sector develop human resources environmental practices that contribute to improvement of the environmental performance, from functional HR Green practices, recruitment and selection, training, performance appraisal and rewards. In addition, two case studies have been conducted and it was found that different concerns about environmental issues, while ALPHA company presents structured environmental practices, as well as human resources, showing evidence of the integration of human resources practices with environmental management, while the BETA company, despite years of existence on the market, needs a professionalization of the management, considering that the practices developed are not systematized. |
