Resumo: This dissertation of bibliographic nature and field research deals with the Picture Book in Early Childhood Education from the perspective of thirteen teachers of the municipal public network of São Paulo and the Greater ABCDMRR region, who worked until the year 2021 with 4 to 5 year old children. It seeks to understand, from the teachers' point of view, how the little ones relate to picture books. The specific objectives are: to identify the books children like the most; understand how they read these materials and verify possible contributions to this process. The theoretical framework is based on Edgar Morin's Complex Thought, along with the contributions of Fanny Abramovich, Luís Camargo, among others, about the understanding of reading, literature, and picture books. The method used was the application of a questionnaire made available via Google Forms. The results point out that Picture Books are the books that children like the most because they can interact and the image overlaps with the writing, favoring the delight and pleasure of the reader. It was also noticed that the readings are built from the children's life and linguistic repertoire. The Picture Book contributes to the stimulation of imagination; the organization of thought in view of the creation of stories; the expansion of various learning experiences; the expression of emotions and feelings; the perception of the world; the development of orality; and the acquisition of reading habits.
