Introduction: The search for non-invasive procedures to reduce localized adiposity in aesthetic clinics is increasing. In this context, procedures such as cryolipolysis, ultracavitation, photobiomodulation (FBM) and other techniques have been proposed. Some studies have shown that FBM can be used in body contouring. However, much is still discussed about the parameters used, such as the wavelength. Objective: to compare the effectiveness of light wavelengths (red 660nm and infrared 830) in relation to the Sham group in FBM as a technique for reducing abdominal circumference associated with Aussie current Material and Methods: Controlled, randomized, double-blind clinical trial and unicentric.35 volunteers participated in the study in groups divided into three groups: Group A- red; Group B-infrared and Group C-Sham. The treatment consisted of eight sessions, twice a week, for 4 weeks. In each session, participants received 30 minutes of FBM (127 J/cm2), with an abdominal strap containing 4 LED clusters, with 72 devices each, following the indication of randomization. All groups received 30 min of Aussie Current, at 4 kHz, modulated at 10 Hz, 40-60 mA. The primary variable was waist circumference. Secondary variables were anthropometric data, lipid profile, liver function, local microcirculation, quality of life and self-image. Results: Red FBM was effective in reducing waist circumference compared to other treatments, with a reduction of 3%, without repercussions on lipid profile and liver function. Conclusion: Red FMB presented significant results in the reduction of abdominal fat without repercussions for the individual's health regarding the available fat and improving the quality of life and body self-image. |
