An occurrence in the enterprise life that can affect the strategy routes in the companies, particularly in the ones characterized as familiar, is the succession process, and its consequences need an adaptable management to the changing moments. Thus, the objective of this work is to clarify how the succession process occurs in small and medium companies characterized as familiar companies. For this essay, companies from the same sector of the economy, more specifically manufacturers of medical and dentistry products, have been studied as well as an investigative research of case studies. The studies have disclosed similarities between the three companies, such as the occurrence of the succession of the founder from the removal of the same, either by death or health issues, and when relative questions about the lack of a more elaborated planning for the succession process is approached. More significant modifications were observed in the organizational structure of the companies, immediately after the occurrence of the succession of the founder, with the companies assuming a new dynamics from this accomplished fact.
