Resumo: In a society where capitalist logic is hegemonic, issues such as bureaucracy and dehumanization of social processes are always targets for investigation of various sciences related to the humanities. Entitled School Management and Democracy: teacher view of the legitimation of power at school, this work has as main theme the school management. Inserted in the line of educational policies, this study investigated the forms of power legitimization in school from the perspective of teachers. For this data were collected through interviews with six teachers from a public school in the city of São Paulo. In the construction of the interview, for further analysis, the following categories were considered: power, democracy, school management and participation which enabled us to see how the teacher sees this process and as noted issues related to the exercise of power and, also, participation in other relational instances to school, given the need for democratization of this social institution.
