Resumo: The generation of construction waste can be linked to many causes and decisions, for example, in construction planning, execution problems, among others. During the construction phase, material wastes are related to factors such as transportation damage, improper handling, excesses caused by unskilled labor, unplanned storage, and weather. There is a mapping of direct and indirect causes of waste from construction materials of different types common in Brazilian constructions, pointing to recurrent problems related to the lack of standardization. In the area of asphalt paving, several techniques for recycling old materials appear with the aim of reducing the exploitation of nature. Among the alternative materials that have been used, we can highlight the milled material, which can be incorporated into other materials, such as Portland cement and asphalt emulsion, to give rise to new layers of pavement. This work was carried out to study the feasibility of the reuse of ground milling material in the preparation of a heat absorber layer in a water tank, allowing the supply of hot water to residences using exclusively solar energy. The tests were conducted at the Biofuels and Quality Control Laboratory of Nove de Julho University, the results showed that it is possible to reuse the asphalt residue to heat the water for longer. In addition, it was evaluated the applicability of the business in which it determined that with this new way of reusing this waste, there is an economy of R$92.25 (US$23.96) per month for the ten years of life of the water tank, which is equivalent to R$11,000.00 (US$2857.14) in the period, that is, the results bring environmental, social and economic benefits.
