Resumo: Violence against women became a main topic of concern and its eradication an urgent matter since the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), adopted in 1979. However, the history for equality can be traced to an even more distant period. Since the insurgence of the feminist movement at the French Revolution, groups of women have been fighting to guarantee their rights, which culminated in the creation of international norms and laws. Among the different types of rights violation is violence against women, especially the one that happens in the domestic environment. The city is a space of social encountering, in which different segments of the population - gender, ethnicity, class, residence - interact. In this context, urban planning is an essential tool to guarantee the right to the city, both to reduce inequalities and to fight against domestic violence. This study considers the data of psychosocial care as well as violence registries under the gender perspective in the year of 2020 as a way to better comprehend how urban planning is crucial in the search of solutions to decrease violence against women. Data from the woman’s rights Defence centers, under the scope of work of the Municipal Secretariat of Human Rights and Citizenship of São Paulo municipality, was collected in a georeferenced manner. As method, the spatial distribution is an interesting analysis tool, taking into account the panorama and the methods of fighting against violence during the period considered in this study, which includes the impact the COVID-19 (Sars-CoV-2) pandemic. This study has an exploratory character, as the main objective of this analysis was to investigate the spatial distribution of violence reports in relation to the existence of support centers to women in the administrative regions of the city. Initially, we were able to verify that the existence of support centers was connected to the region where the report was registered, as well as reflected an intersection with the most vulnerable regions of the territory. At the end of the study, a uniformity of cases throughout almost all districts of the capital was identified.
