Resumo: |
The objective of this research is to analyze the influence of the Environmental Management System in managing automotive supply chain. The methodological approach adopted was a case study conducted in an automotive supply chain, made up of several suppliers and distributors, which will form the units of analysis. The company is the maker of the heavy vehicle is the focal company of the chain of distributors as the set downstream companies and suppliers of components for automotive parts and raw materials form the amount companies, addressing from the first to the third tier suppliers and customers. The sources of evidence used in this study were the interviews using a semi-structured participant observation conducted on the day of the interview, which followed a previously established protocol, and documentary research on documents provided by interviewees and queries to the sites of companies that form the chain. The survey results show that the focal company is structured and performing some activities related to green supply chain but not the whole chain that environmental management incorporated. At the same time, it was found that company there placed at the end of the chain, which is more structured that the first level companies. Furthermore, it was evident that certified companies or advanced certification of ISO 14001 certification have superior environmental performance that is not certified. |
