Resumo: |
Several studies have concluded that the technology influences the culture as well as many others have shown that culture influences technology. It has also been shown that technology influences the functioning of organizations, and that organizations influence the generation and adoption of technology. The dynamics of any of these main effects - culture in technology, technology in culture, technology in organization, or organization in technology - is complex and has been the subject of decades of research and debate. When one begins to ponder the relationship between organizational culture and technology, however, note that it has aroused much less interest, and this interest has tended to focus on organizational culture as an independent variable. The bulk of research on organizational culture and technology has focused on the relationship between organizational culture and the adoption of information technology and the general conclusion has been that certain types of organizational cultures favor the easy implementation of information technology. This dissertation takes a different approach in considering the relationship between technology and organizational culture with the causal emphasis pointing in the opposite direction. Instead of asking about the impact of technology on culture, it questions the impact of production technology in the development and dynamics of organizational culture. |
