Resumo: Estimate the value of using software in the classroom brings to light important considerations about the real conditions of student learning, and thus may contribute to improvements in the process. It may also help teachers by facilitating practical demonstrations in the classroom, and reducing the teaching work in the preparation of the practice, when the school has no laboratory technician. This topic of study is thus related to the Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Likewise, as regards quality evaluation of educational software, regarding the selection criteria focused on quality. The objective of this research is to study the criteria for evaluation and selection of educational software, particularly in Biology. Then these results were compared as to their similarities. Possession of a systematic framework, exploratory qualitative study was conducted with teachers of biology at the São Paulo state public in the second half of 2013, more particularly in schools located in the central region of São Paulo, belonging to the Central Board, with 21 teachers. For this, we developed a questionnaire in order to conduct the survey data on the understanding of teachers in the use of software to support biology teaching practices, and the need for adequate criteria for evaluation and selection of educational software in this area in high school. The results were presented in a descriptive manner, through content analysis ( Bardin , 1977; Moraes , 1999) . In general, we can say that the research models that deal with criteria for evaluation and selection of software in general and Biology, more specifically, are still scarce in the literature. The results arising from respondents indicate that teachers using software of Biology is required and is present in high school and that there is interest in having criteria for evaluation and selection of software Biology, being recognized its importance. The results contribute to interventions in the process of school management. This study forms part of the Research Group on Contemporary Educational Management ( GRUGEC ) , being developed as part of the thesis in Masters Program in Management and Educational Practices (PROGEPE) on Line Intervention Research in Educational Management (LIPIGES) , the University Nove de Julho (UNINOVE).
