Resumo: |
The hardened materials machining in advance to replace the grinding operation is an important factor in the corporations survival and competitiveness for keeping items sought by the market: Price, Time and Quality. The cubic Boron Nitride (cBN) has been one of the most materials on hardened steels machining for finishing operation giving the pieces lower dimensional tolerances, great finish and good geometric shape. Unfortunately the Brazilian technical literature is poor when it comes to interrupted milling, especially finish on uneven surfaces like those formed during the punching process prior to cutting machining. This paper aims to study the cBN tool performance on machining for ball cages holders made with SAE 8620 hardened steel used as components most used sets for cutting edges by the cBN inserts manufacturers and to determine the most suitable windows cages joints milling in ABNT 8620 carburized steel. The research, developed in the facilities, was carried out by testing machining conditions rating and subsequent data analysis with statistical support using the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) tool. The results showed that one of three cutting edge sharpening ways used was prominently better than the others. It can be also realized that the edge sharpening was a higher influent factor on the tools life than cutting feed within the feeds range used. |
