Resumo: |
This study evaluated lingual brackets bonding on the lingual surfaces of bicuspids with different PAD thickness, made with Transbond XT light cured resin in 1.00 m and 2.00 mm thicknesses and compared to the lowest possible thickness. The Sondhi Rapid-Set bonding adhesive was used for indirect bonding. Shear bond strength was evaluated five minutes after bonding, using a Kratos universal testing machine, with a crosshead speed of 1.0 mm/min. The mean force of shear bond strength for Group I was 9.69 MPa (SD 4.02 MPa); 6.15 MPa (SD 2.69 MPa) for Group II; and 5.73 MPa (SD 1.62 MPa) for Group III. Group I, with lower PAD thickness, featured significantly greater shear bond strength than Groups II and III (PADs equal to 1.0 mm and 2.0 mm, respectively). The latter two groups showed no significant difference at p<0.05. Score 1 of the Adhesive Remnant Index prevailed in Groups I and II, characterizing a greater number of adhesive fractures. In Group III, score 2 prevailed, with cohesive-type fractures.(AU) |
