Resumo: This research proposes to analyze liturgy in an urban context, and the form in which praxis can influence and articulate itself in terms of Christian liturgy constructed in urban contexts, especially in poor areas that experience the contradictions that result from an economic model that excludes and concentrates wealth. As such, the research seeks to point out the development of pastoral liturgical praxis, specifically in the context of the Community of Heliópolis, São Paulo, which is the second largest slum in Brazil. Praxis is human reflexive and material activity, which means that it is transformative action that should insist on a preference for the poor and excluded. Liturgical pastoral action that has praxis as its point of reference will, as such, act in ways that animate the hopes of people that celebrate, favor organization and sensibility for social awareness that are necessary for overcoming exclusion, and develop the dignity of human beings. The research presents itself in three moments: first, theoretical conceptions of praxis and urbanization; second, an analysis of the area of Heliópolis, and; third, indications for liturgical pastoral praxis in an urban context. The result is a combining of general historical and theoretical references that support liturgical pastoral practice that contribute to human hopes and the creation of a new paradigm of society based on justice and equality.(AU)
