Resumo: The Religious Teaching discipline, due to its misperception and to the fact that its considered of minor importance does not have the right value in most of the public schools and, also, at the Academy. Concerning this problematic, the present dissertation intends to show its relevance to society, focusing its contribution to overtake social exclusion and, consequently, its relation to Education for Solidarity. From this perspective, to concretize this objective, we consider some fundamental concepts like education, neoliberalism, social exclusion, solidarity, life sense, epistemological, ethic and espiritual conversion. We also present three Religious Teaching models, which are the Religious Teaching National Permanente Forum, the Education for Religiosity and the Confessional, pointing and reflecting on its pedagogical proposals, as well as the positive aspects and some limitations imposed by them that we must take into consideration when using any of these models. As methodological procedures, we opted for the bibliographical research. Jung Mo Sung and Hugo Assmann are the authors who made the fundaments and justificated, more precisely, the pertinence of Education for Solidarity with Religious Teaching. With this work, we intend to propose that the Religious Teaching discipline must be comprehended and respected by everyone involved in education, because this discipline, while auxiliaring the educational process in the combat to social exclusion, ends to have a precise participation in our society.(AU)
