Resumo: This project is based on the biopsychisocial approach to Health Psychology and evaluates the role of daily children activities, such as play, in child recovery. Its main goal is to investigate whether the use of interventional ludic techniques in physiotherapy contributes to the improvement of oxygen levels of asthmatic children; the specific goals are: firstly, to outline a brief clinical profile of children that seek the Allergy and Imunology Clinic of ABC Medicine School; and secondly, to verify the compliance of children with respiratory issues to ludic physiotherapeutic interventions. This project uses an ABA experimental method of intervention and evaluation. The subjects are 58 children of both sexes, aged between 4 and 11, presenting with chronical bronchic asthma, bronchitis and allergic rhinitis, not in a situation of crisis. It is conducted in the following manner: a single individual session with each subject, with evaluation of vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate and temperature rate, as well as pulse oximetry and pressure of expiratory fluxus), heating techniques, thoracic stretching, abdominal strengthening and thoracic expansion, before and after the ludic physiotherapeutic intervention. The study performs a qualitative analysis of children s responsiveness to the ludic techniques. Clinic profile results indicate a greater incidence of asthma: 44 cases (75,862%), against 11 cases of rhinitis (18,9655%) and only 3 of bronchitis (5,1724%). The vital signs data (referred above) present within normal ranges. This study finds no significant difference on the oxygen saturation levels before and after the ludic intervention. As for the compliance: 55,2% of the subjects have complied with the intervention, and the non-compliance was allegedly based on personal reasons of the children s parents or on physical conditions presented by the child, such as headache, sleepiness or vomit. The results suggest that new studies be undertaken on ludic physiotherapic interventions.(AU)
