A series of concepts and practices initiated by the prefix “co-“ present increasingly prominence in various sciences. These include collaboration, cooperation and co-production - different ways of working together. While the first two restrict the production process and the actors maintain a hierarchy between them, co-production represents a horizontal perspective that aggregates heterogeneous actors. Thus, the objective of the present work was to investigate the concept of co-production, identifying its theoretical roots, its various theoretical configurations and its practical applications. To this end, we conducted a review of the scientific literature that employs these concepts. Then, we deepened research on the concept of co-production, especially in Public Administration and Social Science Studies, fields where it was developed more deeply. In the end, we will establish relationships between co-production, knowledge and commons.
