Resumo: The research focuses on the information representation diversity by specialized professionals in the health area, in the specific field of Palliative Care in Oncology. It approaches the information dispersion in this field and the lack of satisfaction found among health professionals in the search and retrieval processes of scientific information, for the better accomplishment of their activities. It identifies the functional profile of professionals working in this field, by mapping features referent to information needs, addressed to specialized functional performance in the area. A survey and comparative analysis of terms of the field specialized vocabulary, used for scientific information search and retrieval processes, show relative differences of the terminological degree of information retrievability, indicating different volume and specificity levels of the retrieved scientific material for each used term. The study compares the different specific goals of each professional type involved, establishing conceptual and semantic relationships with the field specialized vocabulary terms, used for information search and retrieval, addressed to support the different professional activities. The obtained results allow to contribute for increasing the information relevance of scientific information search and retrieval processes, in the field of Palliative Care in Oncology, customized by professional type. It also allows to propose guidelines for improving the scientific literature indexing processes, in the database of the National Cancer Institute ( INCA), facilitating information search and retrieval by professionals. The research findings aims to contribute to the scientific and professional development of Palliative Care in Oncology, ultimately benefiting patients and relatives who need it
