Resumo: | This work shows the scenario in which copyright and the right to information play opposite roles, regarding the international views on the theme. It uses bibliographical sources to provide a brief history, together with the concept and systematization of copyright in comparison to other types. It analyzes the paradigms that rise from permanent connection, through digital platforms, among citizens of an information society, and which initiatives reflect the impact of that change on copyrights. This work also reflects on the origin of moral and ethical issues related to using and sharing goods protected by intellectual property rights. It reinforces the importance of archives in the Digital Age. It discusses the applicability of copyright protection in the archival field and exemplifies movements that have risen as alternatives to total interdiction of collections due to intellectual property. It shows the growing relevance of private archives to archival organizations and, by focusing on the National Archives of Brazil, it carries out a study on the practices and policies concerning records accession within the organization. It compares the information collected in interviews with the managers of the areas that handle private records in the institution with bibliographical sources. It highlights the new platforms of dissemination of archival collections (web portals, wiki sites, social media) adopted by the entity under study and demonstrates the quantitative and qualitative results they have achieved until this moment. |
