This paper describes an investigation of positive and negative stereotypes considering as variables sex, status and colour. The instrument used consisted of eight stimulus drawings and four answer drawings. The sample consisted of 48 undergraduate students and 34 semi-literate subjects. The basic hypothesis tested was the following: there are positive and negative stereotypes related to sex, status and colour in situations with positive connotations (dork and School) and in situation is with negative situations (bar and vagarancy). The basic null hypothesis was rejected in relation to variables sex and status but not in relation to the variable colour. Suggestions for future research were made. |
