Resumo: This work was written principally to show a theoretic-critical analysis of intelligence tests or psychological aptitudes as instruments for a 'objective' measure of behavior. They are composed following the standards and principIes ruled by 'Psychometry' - branch of the Psychology that works with the 'theory' and 'methodology' of test construction. The dissertation is composed by four chapters and a conclusion. In the two first chapters the theoretical cathegories of 'technical practice.' and 'theorical or scientific practice' are examined, trying to demonstrate that the intelligence tests are composed by a technical ideological construction process, whose mechanism tries to respond to an external determination - a 'social demand' for 'adaptation-readaptation'of individuals in the social order. The third chapter focuses the 'social demand' of the intelligence tests through the analysis of determined ideological conceptions who state that the intelligence and aptitudes are responsible for the social hierarchization. It is shown that the tests validate a certain knowledge of intelligence that reproduce the specifical social relations of the means of production in the capitalist societies, when the function of selecting, classifying and diferenciating the individuals are accomplished. In the fourth chapter Michel Foucault’s contributions are analysed emphasizing that these practices rise historically as knowledge objects and power effects constituting themselves fundamentally through this articulation. Finally there is the conclusion of the impossibility of considering the tests and the intelligence they produce solely at the level of distinction science-ideology. So there is the tentative to reach a position in which it is most important exactly to identify the articulations of power that can be found in every knowledge production.
