Resumo: This dissertation consistis in a study about the questions of history and democracy beginning from the thoughts of Claude Lefort and Cornelius Castoriadis. Linked to the examination of democracy makes us 'think the political' in a distinct perspective than the one referring to the political science and sociology fields. Fields in which the political is treated as something that can be understood starting from a previous and exhaustive knowledge about the social and political processes. Reflecting about the question of history and democracy means, in this sense, conceiving the distinction between political and the politics as something which takes us to a 'singular way' of relationship between men and the 'explicit power' in a society. This way implies, by its turn, the existence of a society in which the politics is acknowledged as an activity that may educate citizens while effective 'free and responsible' individuals.
