Resumo: |
This research investigates the impact of Self-Tracking Technologies on athletes' training processes, particularly in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). Using a qualitative methodology, the study features in-depth interviews with elite coaches and athletes to explore their experiences with self-tracking technologies. The findings emphasize the importance of these technologies in optimizing training efficiency, potentially preventing overtraining, and enhancing performance in the lead-up to competitions. The study highlights key drivers of adoption, such as motivation, peer influence, and curiosity, as well as the value athletes find in these technologies, including improved performance tracking, recovery monitoring, and data utilization. A pattern emerges showing a positive correlation between performance improvement and active monitoring, which heightens athletes' awareness and preparation. This research not only contributes to the understanding of self-tracking in grappling sports but also offers valuable insights into the broader discourse on sports performance. The qualitative approach leverages athletes' experiences with wearable technologies to draw explicit conclusions for this research project. |
