Resumo: This study has as its objective to prove, starting from an analysis of the three Ris teachers l attitudes, the possibility to infer a certain perceptive style of the three Ris teacher in facing the MOBRAL and how far that style will affect the teaching performance. It also intends to characteriza the teacher, by pointing out the relationship between some of his characteristcs and his perceptions. Thi s i s a non experimental .. resear.ch in Rio de Janejro county based on a sample of 33,46% of its population for the three Ris classes as a result from agreements signed by MOBRAL during the second half of 1977. Data were collected from questionnaires which were answered by 91 teachers and their supervisors. The evaluation of the three Ris teacher is considered under two focuses taken from the supervisorls opinion and from s~udent results obtained in Reading, Writing and Arithmetic Tests. The principal hypottesis we intend demonstrate: - the three Ris teacherls perception affects his performance to the evaluation carried out by the supervisor = 0,43), and denied by the studentls results =0,10). was confirmed as . (linear correlation = (linear correlation = In relation to the three Ris teachers l characteristics, it was observed that the younger ones and those with higher level of education, had got better marks from the supervision and however, they presented lower leve 1 of performance when the pupi 1 Si resul ts were considered. This research also presents specific information from the teachers in relation to the different aspects of the MOBRAL and, among them, the following ones had more bearing: the effective offer of classes, the perfect relationship between the three Ris teachers and students; the lack of the important discussion of the real meaning of concept of funcional literacy and the necessity for bettering the teachers l performance in relation to the exploitation of the 'generating poster' and the use of group work. Taking everything into consideration, it led us to reach the conclusion that in spire of the differences in literacy between teachers and students (there was a great number of the three Ris teachers holding senior high certificates which are good for elementary teaching) it is possible to observe that both groups draw together; while the teacher also present certain passivity, certain conformity in accepting the reality around him nevertheless, taking enthusiasm, and dedicating to it, without, however, making a problem out of it.
