Resumo: |
This work has the goal of observing the relationship between the characteristics of entrepreneurial behavior and the sociocultural origins of entrepreneurs in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Specifically, it focuses on the theories of David McClelland as adopted by Sebrae through the methodology of its Empretec program and Pierre Bourdieu’s theory on cultural capital. Its methodology includes an analysis of the sociocultural origins of entrepreneurs , their educational background, family history , schooling, habits of consumption of cultural products, and their level of internationalization, correlating them with the 10 characteristics of entrepreneurial behavior proposed by McClelland: search for opportunities and initiative, persistence, taking calculated risks, requirements of quality and efficiency, commitment, search for information, goal setting, planning and monitoring, networking , independence and self-reliance. The methodology was based on a literature review, field research, split between classroom and online questionnaires, and quantitative methods of data analysis. In the results, we observe a significant difference between the socio-economic, cultural and educational profiles of entrepreneurs from within and outside poor communities in Rio de Janeiro. It confirmed a higher degree of capital culture in the entrepreneurs not in these communities, in income, level of education, family education, access to cultural goods, consumption of information and the level of internationalization. In addition, the survey revealed that there was evidence to support the existence of influence of cultural capital in the following characteristics of entrepreneurial behavior: search for opportunity and initiative, requirement for quality and efficiency, taking calculated risks, goal setting, networking, independence and confidence. |
