Resumo: |
Studies presented in the literature on missionaries present many links between the missionary and education, including traditional school education and non-formal education, characterized as religious education or social actions. However, some evidence of missionaries with relevant educational trajectories is noted. In this sense, the aim is to understand the behavior in the consumption of education, specifically in missionaries' training. The theoretical framework explores concepts of education, religious teaching, missionary and education, and education consumption behavior. The approach is qualitative, the method adopted is that of Life History, and the data is analyzed using the content analysis technique. Eight interviews were conducted with missionaries born in Brazil, Africa, and Germany, and all participants have missionary and theological training. This study's relevance is in the accumulation of knowledge of missionaries, which comes from the educational process that includes their training and development for training new missionaries, resulting in appropriate approaches in the field and social projects. The results show that the consumption of missionary education improves the quality of teaching, the content is similar to pedagogical teaching, and the missionaries position themselves as educators practicing teachings focused on society. This study contributes to the knowledge of mission education and presents the importance of applying projects and teachings directed towards society. |
