A constituição identitária na sociedade pautada pelo consumo: a pressão por perfeição nas redes sociais digitais

Resumo: The research presented here aimed to study the cultural aspects of postmodern society and consumption that are mobilized in the identity constitution of subjects in the scope of consumption of content disseminated on digital social networks, especially on Instagram. To do so, we mobilize authors who address communication-consumption-identity, such as Bauman, Debord, Fontenelle, Hall, Harvey, Kellner, Karhawi, McCraken, Morin, Slater and Woodward, where we relate reflections on postmodern society and its logic of consumption determining social positions and personal identities, with the indisputable presence of the media in all spheres, and the dissemination of information enhanced by digital technology. With the empirical objective of knowing and verifying the consumption practices and the perception of the followers about the profiles of digital influencers in the context of the cult of perfect appearance, and evaluating the elements that are mobilized in the discourse disseminated by the influencers in these profiles on Instagram, we carried out individual interviews with followers who interact with digital influencers, developing a reflection on how these subjects are attributing meaning and consuming content related to beauty and perfect appearance disseminated by digital influencers, and how this is reflected in the identity constitution of these individuals. The results show us that followers care and are aware of the aspects promoted by influencers in their posts regarding beauty and perfect appearance, relating them to their daily lives.
