Resumo: | Information technology and information systems are becoming each time more important in the agenda of most companies, due to several different factors. Projecting, developing and implementing them involves three important perspectives: technical quality of the systems and IT infrastructure, strategic alignment between the objectives of the systems and the organization and concern about the people involved in the change process. This study was concerned with a real case of technological change that involved the design and implementation of a new information system. The new system was conceived and introduced in the organizational environment taking the two first perspectives into account, but disregarding the third one. Intriguingly, the project presented excellent results in spite of the absolute lack of consideration of the human element during the phases of development and implementation of the solution, which has been considered a very important element in any change process. In fact, some authors even consider this factor as the key factor to determine the success of failure of an initiative. The objective of the study was to check the incidence of determinants of technology use and technology acceptance from the perspective of the stakeholders, in an attempt to rescue the human perspective of the process of implantation of the system, considered a technological change. The research involves a cross- sectional time perspective and a quantitative methodological approach. It was operationalized by means of an electronic survey with all the users of the system. The data that was collected was submitted to descriptive statistical analysis. The technological change was characterized and high incidence of the determinants of acceptance and use was identified. The study concluded that, at least in this case, the presence of the determinants of acceptance and use compensated for the lack of attention to the human element during the planning and implantation of the change. In spite of not being part of the objectives of the study, the methodological option of asking questions about the respondents own perception of the situation, and also about what he considered to be his peers' perception, helped the author to identify a gain in the quality of the gathered information. This may be particularly important when surveys are applied to respondents that fear to be subject to any sort of monitoring. |
