Resumo: This research aimed to understand the challenges experienced by teachers in changing the teaching performance of Presential Teaching for Distance Education. We tried to also identify difficulties recognized by teachers and how they have adapted this process. The research carried out in a Private Institution of Higher Education, located in the East side of São Paulo, Brazil, had hypothesized the existence of a great personal difficulty in changing the teachers' mode for the Classroom Distance teaching. The study was a descriptive exploratory relied on a questionnaire administered via the Internet, for data collection. The results indicated that teachers recognize that knowledge and mastery of information technology is a key factor in the educational performance in Distance teaching. Also indicate that the platform unfriendly and excessive amount of students in virtual classrooms are the main difficulties for a successful teaching in Distance Education.
