Resumo: This work aims to further and better understand the issue of organizational communication electronically mediated. The topic is relevant since studies have shown that a large portion of IT investments is ineffective, despite huge investments are made in this technology. We take a critical and humanistic perspective, as the researcher's desire is to make a counterpoint to the vision in this highly technical organizational environment. Thus, the study draws on the social sciences like anthropology, sociology and philosophy. We opted for a qualitative research, by its descriptive nature and because of the chosen techniques used in the development the research project, such as: interviews with professionals, questionnaires and secondary data analysis obtained from the information technology sector. In addition to the discourse analysis of these professionals, it was added to this work the discourse analysis of the advertising language oriented to buyers of information technology products. The methodology was based on the analysis of social representations of IT, being held in five large companies in the region of Curitiba-PR. This line of analysis has led to the understanding of the cognitive and social adaptability to everyday realities of individuals and their social and ideological environment. We sought to understand how information technology managers see this issue in their daily lives, and how they affect the way the communication process is developed within organizations. Among the relevant findings, in the first place is the lack of awareness of the role of IT in Organizational Communication and their lack of understanding of what communication means in the human sense. The conclusions of the study suggest that humanistic subjects must be introduced in courses linked to Information Technology. Secondly, given the number of diseases resulting from the misuse of technology in organizations, it is suggested that organizations human resources departments to be involved in the monitoring of information overload in work environment. It is also recommended to weigh the social costs which can be arised from the implementation of new technologies within a organization.
