Resumo: | In history, innovation has been characterized as a novelty to the organization and the environment in which it operates, but mostly as product and process innovations. Initially it was realized that innovation is a complex, comprehensive, systemic and dynamic process, one can say that your search is a reality in organizations, mainly with technological development, which makes it very difficult to prove nontechnological innovations, as proposed in this study. The need for change faced by organizations and observing the daily life of an Institution of Higher Education, this study considered the assumption that strategic approaches were adopted. It sought to identify characteristics of the organizational structure, management techniques, which were adopted strategic approaches and organizational innovations arising from these approaches, in particular the introduction of significantly changed organizational structures and the implementation of advanced management techniques. Thus, the objective of this research was to identify which organizational innovations have been implemented due to strategic approaches adopted over the period between 2008 and 2012 in a Higher Education Institution. In the theoretical framework discussed are: strategic approach, innovation and organizational structure. As to its method, the research is a qualitative study. As for the procedures the research is non experimental (ex post facto). Regarding the number of moments or points in time at which the data were collected, the analysis is longitudinal. As for goals is a descriptive research. It was chosen primary and secondary sources, deploying fieldwork interview with semi-structured questionnaire. Regarding research techniques that were employed for data collection and primary data analysis it was deployed content analysis and secondary document analysis. The main research results were: strategic approaches identified over the period 2008 up to 2012, identify organizational innovations, in particular the introduction of modified organizational structures and the implementation of management techniques, verify and organizational innovations arising from strategic approaches. Above all, the study enhanced academic knowledge of organizational innovation, in particular structures and management techniques, whether they would be applied to higher education institutions, or in any organization. |
