Resumo: The importance that energy represents for the development of modern society implies the need for the group formed by the different world states to adopt an energy model that guarantees the broad access to this fundamental good. Nevertheless, most countries follow an energy pattern that, when prioritizing economic interests, favors energy exclusion. In simple words, this is evidenced by insistence on the production of the largest share of world energy through exhaustible and polluting sources, which has a significant impact on energy prices, as well as on the quality of life due to Impacts it causes. With this in mind, the present research seeks to analyze the reflexes of this exclusive energy model in Brazil 's development process, taking into account that the country' s energy matrix follows the unsustainable pattern adopted worldwide. At the same time, it seeks to ratify the idea that Brazil is calling for the renewal of its energy matrix, especially through the greater appreciation of renewable energy sources available in its territory, especially the wind power source. Therefore, stating that the energy produced by the force of the winds brings together the sufficient conditions to restore the potential of the Brazilian energy sector to contribute to national development, it becomes possible, by observing the environmental and socioeconomic implications of wind production, to reach the Conclusion that the assertion described above deserves to be ratified, which is the hypothesis of this research - being the question "the production of energy through the force of the winds contributes to the fulfillment of the postulates inherent in the development process?" Its guiding problem. In this context, the work developed has the following general objective: to analyze if the production of energy through the force of the winds is an effective way of recovering the potential of the Brazilian energy sector and guarantee the development of the country. Meanwhile, three are their specific objectives, namely: to demonstrate the unsustainability of the current Brazilian energy policy; identify the main positive and negative impacts of wind energy production; and assess whether the valorisation of wind energy by the Brazilian energy policy agenda contributes to the country's development. As for the methodological procedures used, the qualitative aspect was developed (allowing the construction of a knowledge base that indicated the contribution that greater exploitation of the wind power source can offer to national development), as well as the method of inductive approach, the Structuralist procedure, in addition to, as far as research techniques are concerned, the collection of data through bibliographic research and indirect documentation was developed; It should also be emphasized that the data analysis was based on a formative reading. As a conclusion, the need to renew the Brazilian energy matrix was confirmed, and it was quite valid - from an environmental or even socioeconomic point of view - to increase the share of the wind power source – that´s the reason that justifies the ratification of the hypothesis initially described.
