Resumo: The generation of waste is inevitable in any production process. As the world population grows up, does the need to increase in all areas in order to meet the demand for food and products. Going for this production growth, demand for cleaner production practices, the objective of this research emerged, that is to compare two ranking methods of waste generated in the production line of a grape fruit processing industry, from the arrival of raw materials to the output of the final product, in seeking to provide the best way to consign them. Therefore, this research was carried out by observing the production line flow chart and practice of company employees, identifying, qualifying and quantifying the waste generated. Later, two models of hierarchy were applied to prioritize waste, the model developed by Cercal (2000), which requires the applicator a mathematical knowledge to be used and the method used by Scaramal (2002) which proved to be less complex, but both when applied proved viable and efficient when it comes to the results obtained in a grape processing industry and can thus serve as a tool in a waste minimization program.
