Resumo: The theme of this dissertation is the emergence of a genre of discourse called didactic notebook elaborated by the State University of Montes Claros for distance learning in Undergraduate at the Open University of Brazil (UAB). Our main goal is to show that the didactic notebook is a genre of discourse because it uses grammatical, stylistic and graphical resources for its formative function, according to Bakhtin (2010) in his studies about the genres of discourse. The formulations of Bakhtin on genres as forms of social discourse and relatively stable types of utterances are our main theoretical framework and are inserted in the socio-discursive approach that brings together the positions of Adam (2008), Bronckart (1999), Maingueneau (1997), in addition to the reflections of other approaches that, in the reason of theoretical affiliations, name the genre as discursive / textual. The positions of Bakhtin about language, discourse, text and utterances as inseparable elements of the genre reflect the organization of two didactic notebooks in the disciplines of Portuguese Language: Phonetics and Phonology and the Teaching of Grammar at School produced for the 4th period of the Undergraduate in Portuguese UAB / Unimontes. Indeed, we can say that the didactic notebook demonstrates the educational potential of the genre of discourse in order to answer different sociocommunicative activities.
